Privacy Policy

Last updated: 17 July 2026

Promty is designed around a simple principle: your words are yours, and they never have to leave your Mac. Promty records your voice, transcribes it, and turns it into a clean prompt entirely on your device. There is no Promty account, no Promty server, and no cloud processing of your content.

Data we collect

None. Promty does not collect, transmit, sell, or store your personal data. Specifically:

  • Your voice is captured only while you hold the shortcut, is processed on-device for transcription, and is not uploaded anywhere.
  • Your transcripts and prompts are generated and stay on your Mac. They are placed on your clipboard or pasted where you are working, at your request, and are never sent to us.
  • No analytics or tracking. Promty contains no advertising SDKs, no third-party analytics, and no telemetry that reports your activity back to us.
  • No account. Using the app requires no sign-up, email, or login.

On-device AI model

Promty performs transcription and prompt cleanup using AI models that run locally on your Mac. The first time it is needed, the app downloads a model file from its hosting provider. This download only fetches the model to your device — it does not send your voice, transcripts, prompts, or any personal information as part of the request.

System permissions

Promty asks macOS for a few permissions so it can do its job. Each is used only for its stated purpose and only on your device:

  • Microphone — to hear you while you dictate.
  • Speech Recognition — to transcribe your speech on-device.
  • Accessibility — to paste the finished prompt into the app you were using and to support the hold-to-talk shortcut.

Children's privacy

Promty is a general-purpose productivity tool and is not directed at children. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If Promty ever adds a feature that changes how data is handled — for example, optional cloud sync or accounts — this policy will be updated before that feature ships, and the change will be clearly described here.
